## eSIM explained

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card built into your device. You activate a mobile data plan by scanning a QR code — no physical card to insert or swap.

**Compatible devices:** iPhone XS and later (iPhone 14+ US models are eSIM-only), Google Pixel 3+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, and most modern Android flagships. Check Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM to confirm support.

**eSIM vs physical SIM:** eSIM is faster to set up (no airport queue), keeps your home number active via dual SIM, and works across multiple countries with one regional plan. Local SIMs can be cheaper in some markets (India, Thailand) but require passport verification.
