Nassau eSIM

24 Bahamas plans · from $10.67

Nassau is the capital, the biggest cruise port on the planet by passenger count, and the jumping-off point for the Out Islands. A travel eSIM covers all of it on one plan — the main question is how the towers handle four cruise ships showing up on the same morning.

Landing at Lynden Pindling International (NAS)

About 15 minutes west of downtown Nassau and Cable Beach. Both BTC and Aliv have full 4G landside and at arrivals, so the eSIM is live before the taxi line moves.

How “Unlimited” works: Never cut off — each plan gives a set amount of full-speed data, then a slower speed. The exact allowance and speed are shown on every plan.Read more

Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

Which networks you'll be on in Nassau

Siima eSIMs for the Bahamas ride BTC and Aliv. The regulator, URCA, has found neither dominant, and travel guides disagree on which reaches further into the Out Islands — in Nassau itself, both hold up fine.

Coverage around Nassau

Downtown Nassau & the cruise port

Strong coverage through Bay Street and the cruise terminal, though on multi-ship days the shared towers can slow down rather than drop — expect maps and messaging to work, big uploads to take longer.

Paradise Island & Cable Beach

The resort strip across the bridge from downtown — solid 4G throughout.

Day trips to the Exumas

Georgetown holds a signal; the uninhabited cays further out, including the swimming-pigs beach at Big Major Cay, have no towers at all.

How much data you need

A few days in Nassau and Paradise Island, resort-based, runs 1–2 GB. A single cruise-ship day needs barely anything — add a GB if you're also booking a day trip to the Exumas.

Frequently asked questions

Will my eSIM still work with several cruise ships in port?
Yes — the towers get busier, not offline. Expect maps and messaging to work normally; large uploads or video calls may be slower on the busiest days.
Does my Bahamas eSIM cover a day trip to the Exumas from Nassau?
In Georgetown and the other inhabited settlements, yes. The small uninhabited cays nearby, including the swimming-pigs beach, have no cell coverage at all regardless of carrier.
How do I set up an eSIM before arriving in Nassau?
Install it at home while you still have Wi-Fi: open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM and scan the QR code on your Siima eSIM page (open it from your account, or from the link in your Siima email). Leave the line switched off until you land — the plan starts counting from first use in Bahamas, not from purchase.
How much data do I need for a trip to Nassau?
A few days in Nassau and Paradise Island, resort-based, runs 1–2 GB. A single cruise-ship day needs barely anything — add a GB if you're also booking a day trip to the Exumas.
Is an eSIM cheaper than roaming in Nassau?
Almost always. Daily roaming passes from most home carriers run $10–15 per day, while Siima plans covering Nassau start from $10.67 for the whole trip. You also avoid per-megabyte charges if you exceed a roaming pass allowance.
