Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

The metro — the world's northernmost — has coverage in stations and tunnels, and the tram network across the peninsula is uniformly well served.

Central Helsinki and Kallio
Strong 5G across the centre, the design district and the northern neighbourhoods. Indoor coverage in the granite-built older blocks is good.
Lapland and the night train
Rovaniemi, Levi and the main Lapland roads are covered, and the night train holds signal for much of the run north. The fells and the deeper wilderness routes have long gaps.
How much data you need
Helsinki is 2–3 GB for a few days. A Lapland leg with aurora forecasts and constant navigation adds another 2–3 GB.
