Mamanuca and Yasawa islands

The nearer Mamanucas have coverage; the further Yasawas are patchy to none. Island-hopping boat routes lose signal between stops, and resort Wi-Fi is often the only connection.

Should I stay in Suva or on the west side?
Almost all visitors stay near Nadi, Denarau or the Coral Coast, or head straight out to the islands. Suva is the capital and worth a look for the museum and the markets, but it is four hours away and considerably wetter.
Will my eSIM work on the outer islands?
In the Mamanucas, largely yes. In the further Yasawas and the remote groups, expect little or nothing — resorts run their own Wi-Fi, and the boat transfers between islands are offline.
How do I set up an eSIM before arriving in Suva?
Install it at home while you still have Wi-Fi: open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM and scan the QR code from your Siima confirmation email. Leave the line switched off until you land — the plan starts counting from first use in Fiji, not from purchase.
