Accra is one of West Africa's easiest capitals to arrive into — English-speaking, well connected and the base for the Cape Coast castles three hours west. A travel eSIM handles the maps and ride-hailing, though there is one thing it genuinely cannot do here, and it is worth knowing before you land.
Landing at Kotoka International (ACC)
The airport is close to the centre but Accra traffic makes the run unpredictable — allow an hour at peak. Uber and Bolt both operate and are the standard way in.

Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

Coverage around Accra
Central Accra and Osu
Good 4G across Independence Square, Osu, Labadi and the Airport Residential area. Congestion at rush hour slows data along the main arteries.
Jamestown and Makola
The old town, the lighthouse and the market district are covered — busy enough that throughput drops at peak trading hours.
Cape Coast and Elmina
The coastal road west and both castles are well covered, as is Kakum National Park at the canopy walkway.
The north and Mole
Coverage follows the main roads towards Kumasi and Tamale. Mole National Park has signal at the lodge and little on the game drives.
