Budapest eSIM
100 Hungary plans · from $2.23
Budapest is two cities either side of a river, and half the confusion of a first visit is realising your hotel is in Pest and the thing you want to see is up a hill in Buda. A travel eSIM keeps maps and the BKK transit app working from arrival, including the airport bus that most visitors take in.
Landing at Ferenc Liszt (BUD)
The 100E airport bus runs direct to Deák Ferenc tér in about 40 minutes and requires a dedicated ticket — the standard transit pass is not valid on it. Buying in the BKK app on arrival avoids a fine.

Which networks you'll be on in Budapest
Siima eSIMs for Hungary ride Magyar Telekom and Yettel. Telekom has the widest 5G footprint across Budapest and the motorway network; Yettel is comparable in the city centre.
Coverage around Budapest
Metro lines M1 to M4
Coverage across all four lines. M4 is the newest and has the most consistent tunnel signal; M1, the 1896 line running just below street level, is fine throughout.
Pest centre and the ruin bars
Strong 5G across District VII and the centre. The ruin bars are indoors in old courtyard buildings where signal weakens, though rarely enough to matter.
Buda Castle and Gellért Hill
Both well covered, including the funicular and the hill paths. The elevated position actually gives some of the best signal in the city.
Szentendre and the Danube Bend
The HÉV suburban rail to Szentendre holds signal the whole way, and the riverside towns of the Danube Bend are covered.
How much data you need
A long weekend in Budapest is about 2–3 GB. Note that the thermal baths ask you to lock your phone away — you will use less data than you expect on bath days.
