Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

The MRT's underground section through the centre has continuous coverage. TransJakarta busway corridors are above ground and reliable throughout.
Central Jakarta and Kota Tua
Strong 4G and widespread 5G across Sudirman, Thamrin and Menteng. The old town at Kota Tua is well covered, including the museum square.
Bali and the islands
Your Indonesia plan works the same in Bali — Seminyak, Ubud and Canggu all have solid coverage. The Gili Islands and Nusa Penida are workable but slower, and inland Penida has real gaps.
Bogor, Bandung and the volcanoes
The train and toll roads south hold signal. Volcano hikes — Bromo, Ijen — have coverage at the viewpoints and lose it on the crater approaches.
How much data you need
Jakarta runs on ride-hailing and maps: 4–6 GB for a week. If Bali is part of the same trip, buy the larger country plan rather than two separate ones.
