Landing at Queen Alia International (AMM)
The airport is 35km south of the city. The Sariyah airport express bus runs to North Terminal cheaply every half hour; taxis are metered but agree the fare or use the app. Most visitors pick up a hire car here for the circuit south.

Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

Coverage around Amman
Downtown, the Citadel and Rainbow Street
Good coverage across the hills of central Amman, the Roman theatre and the Citadel — the elevation helps, and the views are worth the climb.
The Desert Highway to Petra
The three-hour drive south holds signal for nearly the whole route. The King's Highway, the slower scenic alternative, has more gaps through the Wadi Mujib canyon.
Petra
Wadi Musa town and the visitor centre are well covered, and there is signal at the Treasury. The deeper trails — the Monastery climb, the back route through Little Petra — drop out in the canyons.
Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea
The Dead Sea resorts are covered. Wadi Rum has signal at the village and some camps and effectively none out in the protected area — a genuine offline night, which is rather the point.
How much data you need
A ten-day Jordan circuit is 3–5 GB. Much of it is driving with navigation running; the desert nights use nothing at all.
