Siima's Unlimited plans include 1 GB of full-speed 4G/5G data every 24 hours. Once that daily 1 GB is used, your connection is slowed to 512 kbps for the rest of that 24-hour window — still usable for messaging, maps, email and light browsing, but not video streaming or video calls. The full-speed allowance resets every 24 hours, timed from when you first activate the eSIM, for the entire duration of the plan. There is no total data limit and your eSIM is never disconnected — only the speed changes after 1 GB in a day. If you'd rather have every gigabyte at full speed with no daily limit, choose a fixed-GB plan instead.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a physical SIM card to use mobile data in Japan?
No. A Siima eSIM gives you local data in Japan without a physical card. Activate by scanning a QR code in your phone's settings — no shop visit, no passport check required.
How do I activate my eSIM when I arrive in Japan?
Install the eSIM before you travel: open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM and scan the QR code from your Siima confirmation email. Your data activates automatically when you first use mobile data in Japan.
How much data do I need for a trip to Japan?
For light use (maps, messaging, email) 1–3 GB per week is usually enough. For streaming or heavy navigation, choose a 5 GB+ plan. You can buy additional plans at any time if you run low.
Is eSIM cheaper than international roaming in Japan?
Almost always yes. International roaming from most home carriers costs $10–15 per day. Siima eSIM plans for Japan start from $3.52 and cover days or weeks of local data.
