Colombo eSIM
91 Sri Lanka plans · from $4.83
Colombo is Sri Lanka's commercial capital and the arrival point for almost every trip to the island — a day or two of colonial architecture and street food before the train south to Galle or east into the hill country. A travel eSIM covers all of it, including the famous Kandy-to-Ella railway.
Landing at Bandaranaike International (CMB)
The airport is 35km north of the city, about an hour by expressway. Airport taxis are metered and there are official desks in arrivals; the expressway bus is the budget option. Pick-ups are best arranged in advance with data live.

Which networks you'll be on in Colombo
Siima eSIMs for Sri Lanka ride Dialog and Mobitel. Dialog has the widest coverage across the island including the hill country and the east coast; Mobitel is strong in Colombo.
Coverage around Colombo
Colombo city and Galle Face
Good 4G with 5G in parts of the centre, including Galle Face Green, Pettah market and the Fort district.
The coastal railway to Galle
The line runs alongside the beach for much of the way and holds signal throughout — one of the more scenic commutes anywhere, and covered end to end.
Kandy and the hill country train
The Ella line is the famous one. Coverage is decent in the towns and at the stations, and drops repeatedly through the tunnels and tea-plantation valleys between them.
Yala, Sigiriya and the east coast
The safari park gates and Sigiriya town are covered; game drives inside Yala lose signal in stretches. Arugam Bay and the east have coverage in the main strips.
How much data you need
Two weeks in Sri Lanka is 4–6 GB — heavy navigation, train timetable checks and photo uploads. The island is small but the roads are slow.
