Manila is a transit city for most travellers — a night either side of a flight to Palawan, Cebu or Siargao. A travel eSIM makes the awkward part workable: NAIA has four terminals that are not walkable between each other, and sorting a Grab between them needs data.
Landing at Ninoy Aquino International (MNL)
The four NAIA terminals are separate buildings connected by a shuttle, and a domestic connection often means changing terminals in city traffic. Leave far more time than the schedule suggests, and book the transfer in-app.

Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

Coverage around Manila
LRT, MRT and EDSA
The Manila rail lines are elevated with consistent signal. Coverage along EDSA is good — which matters, because you will spend real time stationary on it.
Makati, BGC and Intramuros
Dense coverage across the business districts and 5G in much of BGC. Intramuros and the older Manila districts are well covered outdoors, weaker inside the thick colonial stone.
Palawan, Boracay and Cebu
The same plan covers them. El Nido and Coron have coverage in town and along the main roads; the island-hopping boat routes and the lagoons are effectively offline.
Tagaytay and the provinces
The road south to Tagaytay and Taal holds signal throughout. Provincial coverage across Luzon is broadly good on the main highways.
How much data you need
Manila plus an island week is typically 5–7 GB — heavy Grab and maps use in the city, much lighter once you are on a beach with no signal anyway.
