Islamabad is a planned capital laid out in numbered sectors against the Margalla Hills — green, orderly and nothing like the rest of the country's cities. Coverage around Islamabad
Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Margalla Hills
The trail heads and the lower routes have signal; the ridges above them thin out. Trail 5 to the viewpoint keeps coverage most of the way.
The Karakoram Highway and Hunza
Coverage follows the highway and the valley towns — Gilgit, Karimabad, Passu all have service. The side valleys, the glaciers and the higher passes do not, and some northern areas restrict foreign SIM use.
Service interruptions
Mobile networks in Pakistan are occasionally suspended in specific areas around security operations, protests or major events. It is not common on a normal trip, but it is worth knowing that a sudden outage may be regional policy rather than your plan.
How much data you need
Two weeks including a northern trip is 4–6 GB. The Karakoram legs use less than expected because much of the route has nothing to connect to.
