Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

Coverage around Lisbon
Metro and trams
The Lisbon metro has coverage across stations and tunnels. Tram 28 runs above ground through Alfama and Graça with consistent signal — worth having, since the route is confusing and the stops are unmarked.
Alfama, Baixa and Bairro Alto
Good 5G across the centre. Alfama's tight medieval lanes cause occasional brief drops between the tall buildings, but never for long.
Belém and the waterfront
Strong coverage along the entire Tagus waterfront, on the ferries to Cacilhas, and at the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower.
Sintra and Cascais
Both train lines hold signal the whole way. Sintra's hilltop palaces are covered, though the forested paths between Pena and the Moorish Castle dip briefly.
How much data you need
Lisbon is a maps-heavy city because of the terrain: 3–4 GB for a week is typical. Add data if you are working remotely — the city is a major digital-nomad base and cafés are not all reliable.
