The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. Is Turkey covered by EU roaming?
No. EU “Roam Like at Home” only covers the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Turkey is not an EU member, so visitors from Europe pay international roaming rates unless they use a local or travel eSIM.
Is there coverage in Cappadocia?
Yes. Göreme, Ürgüp, Nevşehir and the hot air balloon launch zones have 4G. Valley hikes such as Pigeon, Love and Red Valley have signal in the open sections and drop in narrow canyons, and the underground cities like Derinkuyu have no signal below ground.
Do I get a Turkish phone number?
No. Siima Turkey plans are data-only. Keep your home SIM switched on for calls and texts if you need them; WhatsApp, Google Maps and FaceTime all work over the eSIM’s data.
When should I install the eSIM?
Install it at home before you fly, while you have Wi-Fi: Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data) → Add eSIM, then scan the QR code on your eSIM page — in your Siima account, or through the link we email you. Leave it switched off as your data line until you land, then turn it on and turn data roaming on for the eSIM.
How much data do I need for Turkey?
Istanbul is a big city to navigate, and visitors there typically use 1.5–2 GB a day. A one-week Istanbul and Cappadocia trip needs around 12–15 GB, and a two-week circuit through Ephesus and Antalya around 15–20 GB. A beach week on the Riviera is lighter, at about 8–12 GB.
Is an eSIM cheaper than roaming in Turkey?
