Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.

Metro and tram
Coverage across all three metro lines including tunnel sections. The tram down to the Athens Riviera at Glyfada holds signal the whole way.
Acropolis and Plaka
Strong signal on the Acropolis hill itself — one of the better places in the city for it, being high and open. Plaka's narrow lanes cause brief drops between buildings.
Piraeus and the ferries
The port is well covered, and ferries hold signal for the first stretch out of Piraeus. Mid-Aegean crossings lose it for long periods — download boarding passes and maps before you sail.
Delphi and Cape Sounion
The two classic day trips are covered at the sites themselves. The coastal road to Sounion keeps signal throughout; the mountain road to Delphi dips in the passes.
How much data you need
Two or three days in Athens is about 2 GB. If you are continuing to the islands on the same eSIM, size the plan for the whole trip — a 10 GB plan for two weeks is the usual sweet spot.
