Antananarivo eSIM
66 Madagascar plans · from $11.24
Antananarivo — usually just "Tana" — is where almost every Madagascar trip starts and ends, and it has the country's best and steadiest signal by a wide margin. A travel eSIM is live before you reach the taxi rank at Ivato; the real coverage questions start once you leave the capital on the RN7.
Landing at Ivato International (TNR)
About 45 minutes north of the city center depending on traffic. Yas, Orange and Airtel all hold full 4G landside and at arrivals, so the eSIM is working before the taxi moves.

How “Unlimited” works: Never cut off — each plan gives a set amount of full-speed data, then a slower speed. The exact allowance and speed are shown on every plan.Read more
Unlimited plans never run out and your eSIM is never disconnected, but every one has a fair-use limit: a set amount of full-speed data, after which the speed is reduced. The amounts differ between plans — most give a daily full-speed allowance that refills every 24 hours from when you first activate the eSIM, while Premium plans give a larger allowance for the whole plan instead. Each plan states its own allowance and the speed after it before you buy. At the reduced speed, messaging, maps, email and light browsing still work; video streaming and video calls may not. If you want every gigabyte at full speed, choose a fixed-GB plan.
Which networks you'll be on in Antananarivo
Siima eSIMs for Madagascar ride Yas (renamed from Telma in November 2024), Orange and Airtel. Yas leads with roughly half the market and the deepest reach beyond the capital; Orange runs a close second in the cities; Airtel is smaller and city-focused. All three hold up well in Tana itself.
Coverage around Antananarivo
City center & Analakely
Strong, consistent 4G across downtown and the hillside neighborhoods — this includes the small pocket of 5G that Yas has built out on its network.
Rova hilltop palace & Haute-Ville
The historic royal hill above the city holds a solid signal, same as the rest of central Tana.
Heading out on the RN7
Coverage stays reliable as far as Antsirabe, about three hours south, then gets patchier through the rural stretches toward Ranomafana and Isalo.
Ivato approach roads
The airport corridor and surrounding suburbs hold a signal the whole way in from the city.
How much data you need
A couple of days in Tana before or after a national park loop runs about 1 GB — mostly maps, messaging and restaurant research. Add more once you head out on the RN7.
